LOVE STORY
Summer in Japan, last year
We met through our shared love of art. There was an initial awkwardness, but we talked endlessly, and as time passed, we slowly realized that we truly cared for each other, deep in our hearts. Takamitsu and Hasnah fell in love, in a strange, instant, yet somehow beautiful. Just like that, we felt we had found each other, and our journey together began.
Fall
Everything was rose, sakura, and honey until Takamitsu had to study abroad in the UK for one month, while Hasnah stayed alone in Tokyo with her university life. We entered a long-distance relationship. When Takamitsu returned to Japan, soon after, Hasnah fell ill and had to be hospitalized for another month. yes, another period apart. But somehow, those moments of distance only made us feel more connected and more in need of each other.
Winter & Spring
Life and routines kept us busy, but we never stopped talking about the next stage of our relationship. We planned a trip to Indonesia to meet Hasnah’s family. In a hot early summer, there, Takamitsu proposed to Hasnah with a heartfelt love letter, reading it aloud. Hasnah, of course, cried, and said yes.
(Endless) Summer in Indonesia, this year
It was Takamitsu’s first time in Indonesia. Like many first-timer he suffered from a bad stomachache, maybe from sambal or from coconuts, still a mystery. BUT WE MANAGED TO GET ENGAGED!! We plan to hold our akad nikah in Tokyo, Japan, and our reception in Jakarta, Indonesia. Our journey has had its challenges, but we know we can face them with flourishing love, tons of ikhlas, and by supporting each other. Bismillah. Ganbarimasu!
